Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, and optimize software solutions across Cisco and open-source Network Operating Systems.
- Triage customer issues and resolve software and networking problems in development, qualification, and production environments.
- Collaborate with Silicon One architecture, SDK, platform software, NOS, customer, and ecosystem teams.
- Integrate and support L2/L3 forwarding, ACL, QoS, traffic management, congestion management, and load-balancing features.
- Perform software debugging, performance analysis, performance tuning, solution validation, deployment planning, and feature adoption support.
- Contribute to automation, validation, testing, diagnostics, and continuous integration frameworks.
- Participate in design reviews and technical planning activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field plus 4+ years of software development experience, or a master’s degree plus 3+ years of software development experience.
- Strong software development expertise in C++ and Python.
- Experience developing software on Linux-based systems.
- Experience developing, integrating, or debugging networking software using SDKs and abstraction layers.
- Experience with Switch Abstraction Interface (SAI) or similar networking abstraction frameworks.
- Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies and protocols, QoS, traffic management, congestion management, and load balancing.
- Experience with Network Operating Systems, networking ASICs, switching platforms, or network infrastructure software.
- Hands-on experience with software debugging, performance analysis, and troubleshooting in complex networking environments.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with networking SDKs, Cisco or open-source NOS platforms such as SONiC, data center networking, distributed systems, hyperscale or AI environments, Silicon One, Linux kernel interfaces, device drivers, low-level hardware programming, and Python-based automation or test infrastructure.
- Preferred qualifications also include experience supporting customers, partners, or field engineering organizations and strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
