Base Salary

$127k - $159k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, engineer, analyze, and develop software prototypes and applications for space communications systems.
  • Engage stakeholders to define the problem space, vision, capabilities, and priorities.
  • Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including user story creation, design, development, automated testing, and operational support.
  • Design and develop features for evolving end-user requirements and solve complex algorithmic problems.
  • Design, develop, and optimize web applications using microservices architecture and relational databases.
  • Assess software maintainability and adherence to user requirements and department standards.
  • Recommend process and tooling improvements and mentor team members on innovative ideas and industry best practices.
  • Lead and support technical working groups, identify and resolve risks and requirements gaps, develop briefings, and track action items and meeting minutes.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering and integration team members, contractors, government civilians, and USSF personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience, including architecture, object-oriented design, coding, testing, and software development lifecycle knowledge.
  • Strong experience with one or more of Python, Java, or Go.
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or React.
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying web applications using microservices architecture.
  • Experience designing, developing, and optimizing relational database solutions using PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes using GitLab, GitHub, or equivalent technologies.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Strong problem-solving, research, communication, presentation, organization, collaboration, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Active Secret or higher clearance preferred.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Experience with Docker, AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes preferred.
  • Experience building secure software in DoD or federal environments and supporting mission-critical operational systems preferred.
  • Experience optimizing application performance, scalability, and resiliency preferred.
  • INCOSE certification such as CSEP or ESEP preferred.
