Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of WGU’s Salesforce ecosystem supporting student experience, enrollment, and operational excellence.
- Split time between hands-on engineering and serving as the implementation partner for Salesforce architects on emerging platform capabilities.
- Establish automation, integration, security, and DevOps standards adopted across multiple teams.
- Own platform security posture and compliance-framework decisions, including FERPA-aware design.
- Govern enterprise data models, cross-system data contracts, org split/merge strategy, and legacy automation technical-debt strategy.
- Lead architectural reviews, platform health assessments, governance-limit forecasting, and remediation planning.
- Mentor SE I, SE II, and Senior engineers and shape technical direction through influence without formal management responsibility.
- Represent technical perspectives to Product, Operations, and Academic leadership and drive alignment on platform strategy.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with deep Salesforce core engineering expertise, or equivalent depth in Java, C#/.NET, or similar object-oriented and API-driven systems with demonstrated ability to ramp onto Salesforce.
- Mastery of asynchronous Apex and event-driven patterns at a governance and standardization level.
- Experience designing multi-system integration architecture, including API strategy, event-driven decisions, and vendor evaluation.
- Track record of setting technical standards adopted beyond the immediate team.
- Deep understanding of security architecture and compliance frameworks in regulated environments, such as FERPA or equivalent.
- Ability to mentor engineers and shape technical direction through influence.
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences and comfort operating amid ambiguity.
- Preferred: Application Architect or System Architect certification, or equivalent depth without certification.
- Preferred: Experience with Data Cloud, Agentforce, Marketing Cloud, Tableau Next, large-scale Salesforce organizations, higher education or large-scale SaaS platforms, and Copado.
