Responsibilities
- Develop production-grade APIs and service layers exposing personalization and recommendation capabilities.
- Build and evolve web applications and user experiences.
- Develop model-serving and inference integration layers for real-time and batch recommendation use cases.
- Implement resilient, observable, scalable, and low-latency services using caching, event-driven processing, and distributed-systems patterns.
- Collaborate with technical leads, AI/ML engineers, data engineering, and product teams to deliver roadmap commitments.
- Drive technical design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions.
- Ensure production readiness through monitoring, performance optimization, reliability engineering, and operational practices.
- Mentor junior engineers, perform code reviews, and establish engineering standards and best practices.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate development and improve code quality.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience designing and building scalable, resilient, and maintainable microservices and web applications in modern cloud environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot for production backend services.
- Frontend development experience with React is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of system design, distributed architecture, concurrency, asynchronous processing, idempotency, exception handling, and circuit breakers.
- Strong data structures and algorithms foundation with experience applying them to real-world use cases.
- Experience with event-driven architecture using Kafka or similar technologies.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including database architecture and distributed data management.
- Experience integrating LLM APIs into production applications is advantageous.
- Understanding of embedding-based similarity search and vector databases is advantageous.
- Ability to mentor engineers, review designs, and drive sound technical decisions.
- Experience using coding agents, LLMs, or AI-assisted engineering tools to improve software delivery and developer productivity.
- Experience in eCommerce, retail, or consumer digital products is preferred.
