Responsibilities
- Own the technical and product roadmap in partnership with the general manager and customers, translating business priorities into an accountable engineering plan.
- Make final technical decisions across architecture, code quality, security, data modeling, performance, release engineering, and migration strategy.
- Take ToolHound’s natural-language assistant and broader AI capabilities from planning through production with evaluations, guardrails, tenant-safe tool use, and reliable agentic workflows.
- Lead and grow the engineering team by mentoring the current engineer and establishing strong engineering practices.
- Increase delivery velocity and codebase reliability through stack modernization, SQL and data-layer improvements, test coverage, automation, and risk reduction.
- Serve as the technical face of ToolHound by building trust with operators and customers and communicating clearly in writing.
Requirements
- Deep, current C# and ASP.NET Core expertise through .NET 8–10, with the ability to own and reshape a large mature codebase immediately.
- Generalist experience spanning web, mobile, data, infrastructure, AI, and cloud, with the ability to learn TypeScript/React, Go, Python, and AWS.
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating cloud systems and modeling, querying, tuning, and reasoning about production databases.
- Hands-on cross-platform mobile experience with .NET MAUI or Xamarin/native development, including scanning, camera, and offline synchronization.
- Production experience with foundation models, LLM tool use, retrieval, evaluations, guardrails, and safe multi-tenant AI workflows.
- Experience leading engineers, setting technical direction, mentoring teammates, and maintaining hands-on coding involvement.
- Strong product and business judgment, including prioritizing roadmaps and communicating decisions to general managers, customers, and non-engineers.
- Preferred experience with TypeScript/React, Go, Python, AWS, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, modern CI/CD, Postgres, and metrics or product-analytics tooling.
- Preferred vertical B2B or industrial SaaS experience, including asset management, inventory, field service, logistics, or construction technology.
- Preferred experience with RFID/IoT or hardware-integrated systems, DevExpress reporting, multi-tenant SaaS architecture, licensing systems, or modernization of legacy .NET codebases.
