Responsibilities
- Provide application on-call support in 8–12-hour shifts for one week at a time, responding to alerts and pages, troubleshooting issues, and taking corrective action.
- Participate in incident bridges and lead investigations of severe issues affecting customer experience.
- Review, execute, validate, and monitor changes to maintain stability and manage risk.
- Build alerting and monitoring solutions for services in Google Cloud and other observability tools.
- Improve reliability through SRE practices such as blameless postmortems, service-level indicators for critical user journeys, toil reduction, and automation.
- Support development partners with infrastructure deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and production-readiness requirements.
- Own services and manage infrastructure currency, PCI audits, capacity monitoring, cost optimization, and other KTLO tasks.
- Provide technical mentorship and cultural or competency-based guidance to teams.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and CI/CD concepts.
- Experience or familiarity with Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux/UNIX, Terraform, shell scripting, and networking.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools including AppDynamics, Google Cloud Operations, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and Elasticsearch.
- Strong analysis, debugging, troubleshooting, collaboration, written communication, and verbal English skills.
- Experience with change-management processes and a willingness to learn, with self-discipline and commitment orientation.
- Nice-to-have: understanding of relational databases, Oracle, Couchbase, Datastore, or Spanner.
- Nice-to-have: Java development experience.
- Nice-to-have: Sabre Change Management, ServiceNow, runbooks, and Google SRE knowledge.
