Responsibilities
- Maintain existing and develop new Java microservices and extend applications based on business requests.
- Architect, build, operate, and optimize scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed systems for logistics areas and fee calculations.
- Develop and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
- Participate in architectural decisions, RFCs, technical design reviews, and full product-development lifecycle activities.
- Deploy and operate services on AWS and Kubernetes, including observability, logging, monitoring, and high-availability support.
- Collaborate with Product, QE, Data, engineering, and logistics stakeholders to deliver releases.
- Review peer code, identify technical risks and improvements, and translate them into technical requirements.
- Mentor team members and help shape backend engineering practices and technical direction.
- Participate in a paid on-call rotation.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and agents for coding, refactoring, debugging, code review, testing, and incident analysis.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on experience architecting and building scalable, high-performance enterprise applications and leading complex software development projects.
- Strong Java experience, including Java 21 and experience with Spark or Quarkus.
- Strong software-engineering fundamentals, including data structures, design patterns, testing, and debugging.
- Experience consuming, producing, and designing RESTful web services and distributed systems.
- Knowledge of bounded contexts, sagas, eventual consistency, and the outbox pattern.
- Experience with message brokers such as Kafka, Amazon SQS, or RabbitMQ.
- Production experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and EKS.
- Experience with Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, and DataDog for logging and monitoring.
- Experience with relational, MySQL, unstructured, and cached data persistence.
- Experience with Redis is a plus; Domain-Driven Design, Terraform, streams and list operations are additional preferred qualifications.
- Familiarity with continuous delivery, deployment, integration, Git, and related tools.
- Required hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar.
- Experience making repositories agent-ready and using AI agents for end-to-end engineering tasks, with an understanding of prompt engineering, evaluation, reliability, reproducibility, security, and governance.
