Base Salary
$240k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Convex's global cloud infrastructure.
- Investigate and improve system performance and reliability.
- Prioritize projects in collaboration with the engineering team and CTO.
- Own architectural decisions affecting multiple core systems.
- Help establish technical direction and engineering standards as Convex grows.
- Work across the stack rather than being limited to one infrastructure layer.
- Develop systems and database code for Convex's core platform.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities when needed.
Requirements
- Approximately 6+ years of backend or systems engineering experience.
- Experience building and scaling large systems, including owning systems through major scale transitions or building core infrastructure from scratch.
- Experience operating mission-critical, user-facing live services, particularly OLTP databases.
- Strong systems judgment and the ability to balance simplicity, pragmatism, and complexity.
- Ability to write high-quality code; Rust knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to work deeply across system layers and operate effectively in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
- Interest in working in person at Convex's San Francisco office.
- Strong architectural sensibility, ownership, tenacity, constructive collaboration, and commitment to engineering excellence.
