Base Salary

$230k - $250k/yr

Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of scalable, observable, and maintainable platform services
Own architecture, APIs, data models, performance, and security decisions end to end
Build and extend backend systems in TypeScript and Python and contribute to frontend experiences in JavaScript
Integrate LLM-based and agentic AI capabilities into production systems
Define and enforce engineering standards for code review, testing, deployment, and incident response
Use AI-native tools such as Claude Code and Cursor and help improve team adoption
Collaborate daily with product, design, and data teams in the office

At least 3 years of software engineering experience shipping impactful, production-grade systems
A portfolio demonstrating work led, including design decisions, trade-offs, and outcomes
Deep proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python, plus solid JavaScript for frontend contributions
Strong platform engineering experience with distributed systems, API design, cloud architecture, and observability
Experience building with LLMs, prompt engineering, and applied AI/ML engineering
Experience designing systems under constraints involving latency, reliability, cost, and scale
BS or BA in Computer Science; a graduate degree is a plus
Bonus: production experience with conversational AI, dialogue systems, NLP pipelines, or agentic architectures
Bonus: fintech, banking infrastructure, or regulated financial services experience
Bonus: experience as an early engineer at a successfully shipping startup
Must be based in San Francisco and committed to working in the office five days per week
