Base Salary
$230k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, observable, and maintainable platform services for AI products
- Own technical decisions across architecture, APIs, data models, performance, and security
- Build and extend backend systems in TypeScript and Python and contribute to frontend experiences in JavaScript
- Integrate LLM-based and agentic AI capabilities into production systems
- Define and enforce engineering standards for code review, testing, deployment, and incident response
- Use Claude Code and Cursor in daily engineering workflows and help improve team adoption
- Collaborate in real time with product, design, data, and company engineering leadership
Requirements
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience shipping impactful, production-grade systems
- A portfolio demonstrating work led, including design decisions, trade-offs, and outcomes
- Deep proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python, with solid JavaScript skills for frontend contributions
- Strong platform engineering experience with distributed systems, API design, cloud architecture, and observability
- Experience building on top of LLMs, prompt engineering, and applying AI/ML engineering judgment
- Experience designing systems under constraints involving latency, reliability, cost, and scale
- BS or BA in Computer Science; a graduate degree is a plus
- Self-directed, decisive, and able to identify problems, propose solutions, and close loops independently
- Based in San Francisco and committed to working in the office five days per week
- Bonus: production experience with conversational AI, dialogue systems, NLP pipelines, or agentic architectures
- Bonus: fintech, banking infrastructure, or regulated financial-environment experience
