Responsibilities
- Lead technical planning, architecture decisions, implementation, and release readiness for the consumer mobile app.
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance, accessible mobile experiences using React Native and backend or commerce integrations.
- Own the mobile application lifecycle, including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, production support, and on-call duties.
- Define technical patterns, architecture, best practices, and quality standards across web and app platforms.
- Manage app performance, stability, crash rates, responsiveness, startup time, app store ratings, versioning, submissions, and phased rollouts.
- Instrument telemetry, crash reporting, logging, and monitoring to proactively identify issues.
- Lead code reviews, architecture reviews, test strategy, hiring participation, mentoring, and team development.
- Partner with product, design, backend, and platform engineering on requirements, API contracts, and integration points.
- Drive sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, knowledge sharing, and collaborative team practices.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience with significant depth in mobile app development.
- Experience leading the technical direction of a consumer-facing mobile app, ideally in e-commerce or retail.
- Experience mentoring and elevating the technical skills of other engineers.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with AI tools such as Claude, Copilot, and ChatGPT for coding, debugging, testing, and documentation, including validating generated output for accuracy, security, and production quality.
- Understanding of responsible AI practices, data privacy, and safe handling of enterprise information.
- Experience with React Native, JavaScript or TypeScript, and native iOS Swift and Android Kotlin fundamentals.
- Experience with GraphQL APIs, headless or composable commerce platforms, Git-based workflows, automated pipelines, and mobile release tooling such as Fastlane.
- Experience with automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using Appium, Selenium, and Java.
- Experience with mobile telemetry, crash reporting, and monitoring tools such as Firebase Crashlytics, Datadog RUM, New Relic Mobile, or Sentry.
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider: Azure, GCP, or AWS.
