Responsibilities
- Build and ship iOS client features focused on performance, reliability, and responsiveness.
- Own iOS client architecture for payments, commerce, and money-centric WhatsApp Services experiences.
- Work with Swift, Objective-C, the iOS SDK, and server and platform teams on API design.
- Solve complex technical problems and identify opportunities for new technology.
- Set technical direction across multiple teams and own architecture for a major product area.
- Lead organization-wide initiatives and resolve ambiguity in product and technical decisions.
- Drive engineering standards, quality, and craft across the pillar.
- Mentor engineers and influence product, design, data science, and other cross-functional partners.
- Partner with payments, legal, compliance, and local operations teams to meet reliability and regulatory requirements in India.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 12+ years of programming experience in a relevant language, or 8+ years with a PhD.
- Experience working across functions to drive solutions and using data to explain technical problems.
- Experience driving large cross-functional or industry-wide engineering efforts.
- Track record of planning multi-year roadmaps connecting short-term projects to long-term goals.
- Experience mentoring and influencing executive stakeholders across organizations.
- Preferred experience with Indian markets, UPI, and India's digital payments ecosystem.
- Preferred experience with multithreading, mobile memory management, Objective-C, C++, Swift, the iOS SDK, and complex iPhone or iPad applications.
- Preferred experience designing and operating large-scale payment systems and leading distributed teams across multiple sites.
- Preferred experience with technical strategy, global consumer products, high release cadence, responsible AI, AI workflow tools, prompt/context engineering, and agent orchestration.
- Preferred experience establishing technical foundations for a zero-to-one organization or product area, and familiarity with messaging, super-app, monetization, payments, commerce, or AI/ML products.
