Responsibilities
- Lead on-call rotations and act as Incident Commander during major severity incidents.
- Instrument code with high-cardinality metrics and distributed traces, and define and monitor SLOs and error budgets.
- Write production-ready Java, Go, or Python code for internal tooling, automation platforms, and self-healing mechanisms.
- Partner with Product Engineering to build reliability, scalability, and observability patterns into new services.
- Analyze performance and traffic patterns, model capacity needs, and conduct load testing and chaos engineering experiments.
- Operate and troubleshoot production workloads, Kubernetes clusters, data stores, and streaming platforms.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in SRE or Backend Engineering.
- Strong coding ability in Java, Go, Rust, or Python, including writing clean, performant, and tested code.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, and scalable system design.
- Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform or comparable cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.
- Production Kubernetes experience, including GKE or EKS, and troubleshooting cluster and infrastructure issues.
- Experience designing observability strategies with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, New Relic, Datadog, or SigNoz.
- Familiarity with operating and tuning PostgreSQL or MySQL and streaming platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ in high-throughput environments.
