Responsibilities
- Analyze CPU, DRAM, GPU, storage, I/O, and networking layers to identify overlooked optimization opportunities.
- Lead rigorous performance investigations, establish root causes, and produce actionable findings with broad impact.
- Build proof-of-concept solutions involving memory compression, smart over-subscription, language-level rewrites, and related efficiency techniques.
- Develop repeatable optimization patterns and playbooks for fleet-wide adoption.
- Quantify technical improvements in terms of freed capacity, cost savings, and customer experience.
- Collaborate across teams and technology stacks to address cross-organizational efficiency opportunities.
- Contribute findings to profiling tools, automated optimization agents, and engineering guidance.
- Help shape the mission, methods, and culture of the Efficiency Red Team.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional experience in systems programming, performance engineering, or infrastructure optimization.
- 5+ years of experience leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience mentoring, serving as a tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
- Deep proficiency in at least one systems language: C, C++, Rust, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with performance profiling and analysis tools.
- Demonstrated root-cause analysis across CPU, memory, storage, and networking layers.
- Track record of delivering measurable performance improvements in production systems at scale.
- Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: GPU profiling and optimization experience, including CUDA, GPU memory management, or inference-pipeline tuning.
- Preferred: familiarity with generative AI infrastructure, model serving, training pipelines, and token economics.
- Preferred: language-runtime internals experience, capacity planning or fleet-management background, open-source performance-tool contributions, or published systems-performance research.
