Base Salary
$120k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain user-facing products and the backend systems that power Boom’s platform.
- Contribute to and evolve backend architecture with attention to scalability and performance.
- Own production services, including observability, on-call responsibilities, and incident debugging.
- Collaborate with product, operations, leadership, and engineering teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
- Drive engineering practices through code review, testing, and documentation.
- Build products and integrations across tenant screening, rent reporting, CRM, property management systems, and customer-facing AI agents depending on focus area.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional web development experience.
- Strong backend development skills, preferably with the ability to work across the stack.
- Experience with Ruby or a similar backend language, with the ability to learn Boom’s stack.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, including OAuth flows, webhooks, rate limits, and idempotency.
- Experience owning production services with observability, on-call rotations, and incident debugging.
- Daily experience using AI coding agents and shipping code with them, including Claude Code.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to set direction and work effectively in an early-stage environment with shifting priorities.
- Empathy for low-to-moderate-income renters and motivation to build impactful products.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with AWS, Terraform, developer-facing APIs and tooling, MCP tools, production LLM features or agents, Anthropic or OpenAI APIs, agent patterns, evaluation suites, voice AI stacks, vector stores, retrieval pipelines, and secure-by-default development.
