Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture and system design of Thomson Reuters Audit Suite’s AI-first backend systems.
  • Lead multi-quarter initiatives spanning AI, product, infrastructure, orchestration, retrieval, and knowledge-base systems.
  • Design and build backend services integrating C#/.NET, Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, AWS, Vercel, and heterogeneous technology stacks.
  • Build AI orchestration capabilities including routing, tool calling, MCP servers, multi-step workflows, safety controls, guardrails, and error handling.
  • Design high-throughput and low-latency AI workloads using caching, queuing, rate limiting, model failover, and cost/performance trade-offs.
  • Develop retrieval, search, vector-store, and indexing strategies for large-scale tax and accounting data.
  • Establish SLOs, observability, incident response, testing, rollout, and postmortem practices for reliable AI systems.
  • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and provide technical direction across engineering, product, UX, AI Labs, ML, and design teams.
  • Translate new model capabilities into reliable user-facing workflows and help shape engineering strategy, roadmaps, and culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record of shipping production-grade AI systems to customers, including deployment, monitoring, evaluation, scaling, and ongoing operational ownership in enterprise environments.
  • 10+ years of cumulative experience, including at least 2 years in a lead role and 5+ years of full-stack development experience.
  • Experience building scalable cloud-based applications, web services, APIs, and AI-driven products.
  • Experience with C#/.NET or similar production frameworks such as ASP.NET Core, relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL, and a major cloud provider such as AWS or Azure.
  • Experience architecting accessible front-end solutions using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frameworks such as Angular or React.
  • Strong background in distributed systems, data modeling, API contracts, observability, resilience patterns, and performance tuning under load.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in LLMs, agents, retrieval, AI-native software, and new engineering paradigms.
  • Experience designing CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
  • Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs into production applications, including prompt and response management, cost controls, and safety considerations.
  • Experience with vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, or custom retrieval pipelines is preferred.
  • Experience with automated testing, reliability, and release practices for systems with non-deterministic model behavior is preferred.
  • Experience in fintech, tax, audit, legal, or other domains where correctness, auditability, and compliance matter is preferred.
