Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test embedded vehicle control subsystem software.
- Develop and verify advanced control strategies for drivetrain, chassis/body, suspension, material handling, and auxiliary systems.
- Write maintainable embedded C/C++ and object-oriented C++ software for vehicle systems.
- Develop control strategies using virtual simulation, modeling tools, and hardware-in-the-loop simulators.
- Perform research, development, verification, validation, testing, and production implementation of vehicle controls.
- Conduct simulation and real-world testing across multiple platforms and evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
- Prepare engineering plans, designs, calculations, computation methods, and reports.
- Support advanced control and component development efforts for internal project teams.
- Participate in peer reviews, project estimation, and other engineering activities.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to entry-level engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Identify and control vehicle operation and maintenance risks.
- Collaborate with engineering, business support, and external supplier teams.
Requirements
- Accredited bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
- Three or more years of related experience.
- Experience with embedded software and C or C++ programming.
- Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow.
- Experience with control systems, sensors, and actuators.
- Knowledge of high-voltage vehicle systems and export power.
- Automotive, heavy-duty, on-road, or off-road vehicle experience.
- Experience with digital data buses, including Ethernet or Controller Area Network (CAN).
- C#, Python, and embedded software experience are identified as standout qualifications.
- Ability to provide technical guidance, perform engineering analysis, and interpret technical procedures and standards.
