Responsibilities
- Lead development and initial architecture of scalable, elastic distributed-system components for high-throughput and hyperscale workloads.
- Define scalability, availability, durability, correctness, and operational-readiness requirements for owned systems.
- Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, failover, load shedding, throttling, and rate limiting.
- Build telemetry, KPIs, dashboards, alerts, performance tests, fault-injection scenarios, and synchronization mechanisms.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, support incident response and root-cause investigations, and mentor other team members.
- Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, maintain compliance documentation, and protect data in multi-tenant environments.
- Develop infrastructure automation and change-management processes for patching, updating, and rolling back applications.
- Coordinate moderately complex projects, provide technical oversight, support process improvements, and participate in candidate interviews.
Requirements
- Experience leading development and beginning architecture of scalable distributed systems and large-scale data-processing components.
- Ability to design fault-tolerant, highly available, durable, and in-service-upgradable systems.
- Experience with production troubleshooting, incident response, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, performance testing, and operational readiness.
- Knowledge of security controls, encryption, access controls, compliance requirements, remediation, and multi-tenant environments.
- Experience developing infrastructure-as-code or similar automation for cloud infrastructure and managing application changes safely.
- Ability to coordinate moderately complex initiatives, collaborate with stakeholders, mentor junior team members, and provide technical oversight.
