Responsibilities
- Develop new and update existing Cache and MUMPS programs for the Clinical Laboratory System.
- Analyze application issues and define and implement solutions for Cache-based clinical laboratory applications.
- Develop functional and design specifications and execute unit, system integration, and user acceptance test plans.
- Design and implement front-end and back-end features for large-scale enterprise applications.
- Participate in architecture, database design, code reviews, design reviews, and the full software development lifecycle.
- Develop and implement interface integrations, including HL7 and middleware solutions.
- Serve as a technical lead by guiding developers, explaining requirements and design approaches, and coordinating development activities.
- Coordinate testing, defect resolution, software releases, and release management activities.
- Manage small-scale projects, prepare estimates and risk assessments, track status, and communicate with project leadership.
- Mentor team members and improve development procedures, standards, and practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software development experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional work experience.
- At least 5 years of healthcare industry experience.
- At least 5 years developing large-scale, multi-site systems.
- At least 5 years of MUMPS/Cache development experience with Cache and IRIS.
- At least 5 years of Cache Object Script development beyond traditional MUMPS experience.
- At least 5 years of interface development and implementation experience, including HL7 v2.x, HL7v3, and middleware integration.
- At least 3 years of experience developing and using web services with SOAP and REST.
- At least 2 years of web development experience with XML, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XSLT, and Angular JS.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design patterns, distributed databases, and data modeling techniques.
- Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience providing technical direction, performing design and code reviews, and leading small to midsize complex projects.
