Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and architecture of scalable, elastic distributed systems for high-throughput, hyperscale workloads.
- Define scalability requirements, optimize system performance, and leverage distributed state management and data-plane platforms.
- Design fault-tolerant, highly available systems using redundancy, replication, failover, load shedding, throttling, and rate limiting.
- Establish SLOs, KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, alerts, and testing strategies for reliability and performance.
- Diagnose production issues, guide incident response and root cause analysis, and ensure operational readiness.
- Implement encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance documentation, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud automation.
- Enable safe in-service maintenance, patching, updates, upgrades, and rollbacks with minimal customer impact.
- Manage moderately complex initiatives and provide technical oversight across timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with business and customer needs.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers, document problem-solving practices, improve team workflows, and support candidate interviews and hiring recommendations.
Requirements
- Principal-level software engineering experience designing and architecting scalable distributed systems for hyperscale workloads.
- Experience with fault tolerance, high availability, replication, failover, synchronization, observability, resilience, and performance engineering.
- Experience with production troubleshooting, incident response, root cause analysis, and operational readiness.
- Experience implementing security, encryption, access controls, compliance, infrastructure-as-code, and automation for cloud environments.
- Ability to lead moderately complex initiatives, provide technical oversight, collaborate across teams, and mentor engineers.
- Ability to design and implement performance, load, fault-injection, and brownout testing.
