Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance legacy mainframe applications supporting IRS tax processing, compliance, and data management.
- Write, test, debug, and troubleshoot programs using Assembler, JCL, and IBM z/OS utilities.
- Monitor and manage batch jobs through SDSF and other system tools.
- Resolve production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and maintain system stability.
- Manage code changes and version control using Endevor in accordance with IRS procedures.
- Transfer and integrate data using FTP/SFTP and mainframe file management tools.
- Analyze requirements, design solutions, implement enhancements, and collaborate with business and technical teams.
- Document system specifications, program logic, and procedures.
- Support IRS security, data integrity, audits, reviews, and legacy-system modernization.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience with Assembler Language programming and JCL.
- Experience with IBM z/OS, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, Endevor, and FTP/SFTP or mainframe file transfers.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using IBM Debug Tool, FILE Manager, SDSF, and related tools.
- Understanding of QSAM access methods.
- U.S. citizenship and an active IRS MBI Clearance.
- Knowledge of tax processing systems is preferred.
- Experience with SSA, SSAE, SSAF, or IDRS systems is preferred.
