Base Salary

$165k - $213k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day reliability of Buffer’s production platform, including EKS, ArgoCD, AWS infrastructure, autoscaling, and incident response.
  • Implement progressive delivery and trusted rollback paths with Argo Rollouts.
  • Build and evolve internal developer tooling, local development environments, CLI tooling, BIBEs, and per-PR preview environments.
  • Automate low-risk operational workflows with AI-assisted tooling while keeping AI from directly modifying infrastructure.
  • Drive lifecycle upgrades for application runtimes, Kubernetes, EKS, Helm, and Terraform-managed infrastructure.
  • Improve observability, cloud-cost efficiency, logging, metrics, and Datadog visibility.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and design teams as internal platform customers and improve infrastructure documentation.
  • Participate in security work, including dependency and vulnerability management, and help develop shared ownership across the infrastructure team.
  • Participate in a distributed on-call rotation of approximately one week per quarter.
  • Contribute to a two-day fully paid collaboration period during the hiring process.

Requirements

  • Experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, SRE, DevOps engineer, or platform engineer operating systems used in production.
  • Production Kubernetes experience, including authoring and maintaining Helm charts, tuning autoscaling, and managing resource requests.
  • Strong AWS and Terraform experience, including reusable modules and understanding the effects of infrastructure changes.
  • Experience operating production CI/CD and GitOps systems with trusted rollback procedures.
  • Experience carrying an on-call pager, running incidents, writing follow-ups, and improving alert quality.
  • Experience building internal developer tooling such as CLIs, development environments, and per-PR environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in remote, asynchronous environments with clear communication and context sharing.
  • Fluency with modern AI tools for debugging, documentation, and reducing operational toil.
  • Pragmatic judgment around build-versus-buy decisions, operating costs, and infrastructure fundamentals.
  • Personal experience making and publishing creative work in any medium.
  • Preferred experience with Datadog, Sentry, or similar observability systems.
  • Preferred experience with Cloudflare Workers, Zero Trust, and DNS.
  • Preferred contribution to an open-source Terraform module or tool.
  • Experience with Buffer or the social media management space is a bonus.
