Responsibilities
- Operate production services through on-call support, incident response, postmortems, and follow-up remediation.
- Define and refine SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets while helping product teams meet reliability targets.
- Improve observability across metrics, logs, traces, and alerting.
- Ship cloud resources and Kubernetes workloads as infrastructure through a GitOps workflow.
- Own PostgreSQL performance tuning, schema and migration reviews, online migrations, high availability/disaster recovery, and CDC pipelines.
- Mentor engineers on reliability and database fundamentals through code reviews, design reviews, and pairing.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, platform/infrastructure, or backend engineering with significant production operations ownership.
- Hands-on experience operating production services on Kubernetes and shipping infrastructure as code in a GitOps workflow.
- Production PostgreSQL experience, including query plans, pg_stat_*, indexing, schema trade-offs, and safe online migrations.
- Cloud networking fundamentals including VPCs, routing, L4/L7 load balancing, DNS, and TLS.
- Comfort with modern observability stacks, operator-level Linux proficiency, and structured incident response.
- At least working proficiency in Go or Python and strong written and verbal communication.
- Genuine interest in databases and developing deeper PostgreSQL/DBA expertise.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with large PostgreSQL clusters, OLTP workloads, online migrations, HA/DR, connection pooling, CDC pipelines, typed SQL access layers, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redpanda, and security or compliance in regulated environments.
