Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction, software development, and data analysis of the FinOps team while mentoring software and cloud engineers.
- Monitor AWS and other technology vendors, including Unity, Splunk, Datadog, and JetBrains, to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Design and implement FinOps tooling using data pipelines, APIs, cron jobs, Slack bots, UIs, SQL, NoSQL, and Tableau.
- Support Product Management with prioritization based on organizational impact, estimated cost reduction, and effort.
- Help Data Analysts design SQL tables and use Tableau for accurate analysis.
- Coordinate cost optimization and cost transparency initiatives across enterprise teams.
- Partner with engineering, finance, and business teams to answer FinOps questions and drive data-informed decisions.
- Advise internal stakeholders on cloud cost optimization, architecture decisions, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Engineering, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience serving as a technical leader in an enterprise collaborating with 50 or more teams.
- Experience collaborating with customers across multiple enterprise teams and organizational levels.
- Experience mentoring other engineers and leading projects from the ground up.
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure.
- At least 8 years of hands-on software programming experience, preferably with Python.
- Hands-on experience with SQL tables, SQL queries, APIs, UIs, and data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code and continuous integration testing.
- Strong collaborative approach.
- Previous FinOps practices or cost-management analysis experience is preferred.

- Toronto base pay is listed at CAD 156,140–206,140 per year, excluding compensation figures from benefits classification.
