Lead Software Engineer, Distributed File Systems/Cloud Platform

Responsibilities
- Envision and build distributed file system components and frameworks for scale and efficiency.
- Design and develop production-ready software for Salesforce’s cloud platform.
- Build algorithms and services in a multi-tenant SaaS distributed file system environment.
- Research, design, develop, update, and enhance computer and network software.
- Contribute to code reviews, deployment automation, documentation, refinement, planning, and retrospectives.
- Lead, collaborate, communicate, mentor engineers, and provide technical guidance.
- Resolve complex technical issues and improve system scalability, robustness, and availability.
- Troubleshoot owned services and participate in the team’s on-call rotation.
- Work with cross-functional teams to deliver the product roadmap.
- Create, maintain, and share technical documentation.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Mastery of systems design, programming languages, and software platforms.
- Deep knowledge of designing distributed file systems in on-premises and cloud environments.
- Strong Java, Python, object-oriented programming, scripting, and SQL skills.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including PostgreSQL and Trino.
- Experience developing SaaS products on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Proven experience designing and developing distributed systems at scale.
- Understanding of queues, locks, scheduling, event-driven architecture, and workload distribution.
- Strong knowledge of software development best practices and demonstrated leadership skills.
- Preferred: design patterns, big data or ML, S3, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker experience.
- Preferred: experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly growing multinational organization.

- Base salary ranges from $172,500 to $260,100 annually, or $207,800 to $285,800 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area locations.
