Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, multi-sprint technical initiatives from planning through deployment while managing scope, dependencies, and risks.
  • Design and operate scalable backend services using Go, PHP, AWS, Kubernetes, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Write Go for new automation features and maintain and improve core PHP services.
  • Conduct code reviews, lead technical design discussions, write architectural documentation, and establish SLOs.
  • Mentor and pair with engineers and support their career growth.
  • Partner with Product and Design to shape the product roadmap.
  • Troubleshoot Tier-1 customer escalations, technical debt, and mission-critical issues across the stack.
  • Drive engineering-wide improvements such as deployment standardization, testing practices, and technology adoption.

Requirements

  • 4–8 years of software engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise in Go and performance-driven batch processing systems.
  • Solid working knowledge of PHP.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating scalable microservices, distributed systems, and domain-driven architectures at enterprise scale.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Strong understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies.
  • Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog and incident management.
  • Ability to mentor teammates, explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders, and make decisions under uncertainty.
  • Based in Canada to provide timezone coverage for North American enterprise customers.
  • Ability to work across domains and take on moderately complex tasks outside the primary area.
