Base Salary

$200k - $230k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement large-scale backend systems and data-driven internal and partner-facing APIs.
  • Define and build an internal software platform that enables teams to deliver reliable features at scale.
  • Optimize database schemas for scalable, high-performance backend services.
  • Write API documentation, technical documentation, and architectural proposals through the RFC process.
  • Review code for readability and maintainability and provide feedback on technical proposals.
  • Mentor engineers, guide technical growth, and support hiring and innovation.
  • Solve complex technical problems across teams and projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, business stakeholders, and external partners on requirements and architecture.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated success in senior engineering roles.
  • Experience developing and testing in Scala or other JVM languages.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, functional programming, and database schema design.
  • Experience designing highly scalable event-streaming architecture using Kafka, MSK, or an equivalent.
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture and RESTful API design.
  • Expertise with PostgreSQL and AWS products and tools.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and business functions.
  • Preferred: customer-facing experience and familiarity with modern DevOps tooling, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and the Scala Lightbend and Typelevel ecosystems.
  • Preferred familiarity with Slick, Play, Play JSON, http4s, doobie, skunk, circe, cats, cats-effect, and Debezium.
