Responsibilities
- Build and refine controls that prevent Wise customers from scams.
- Develop backend and frontend systems for scam prevention and detection, with approximately 80% backend and 20% frontend work.
- Design, operate, and improve scalable financial crime prevention infrastructure and systems.
- Own projects end to end, use data-driven decisions, and increase automation to improve product outcomes.
- Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Investigations teams on complex technical problems.
Requirements
- Professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages and the Spring framework.
- Experience building and designing scalable web applications handling large amounts of traffic, ideally with React, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and working with distributed and concurrent systems.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and resilient schema design.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and commitment to test-driven development and coding best practices.
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts across teams.
- A strong product mindset, accountability, and ability to drive projects independently.
- Familiarity with machine learning lifecycles, data pipelines, feature engineering, and deploying ML systems to production is preferred.
