Base Salary
$210k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Hire, develop, retain, and manage the Utilities Solutions Engineering team, including ramp, enablement, career progression, capacity, and succession planning.
- Set standards for technical discovery and solution design across utility inspection and asset-management use cases.
- Own utilities technical win rate and partner with sales leadership on quota attainment and pipeline health.
- Govern paid dock trials and rental motions, including scoping, success criteria, execution, and conversion.
- Serve as the senior technical escalation point for critical pursuits, deployments, and customer issues.
- Guide utility inspection payload, data workflow, GIS, enterprise integration, and customer data lake strategies.
- Maintain team understanding of utility regulations, procurement, PUC approval cycles, capital planning, and BVLOS waiver pathways.
- Direct customer feedback, product requirements, and gap submissions into Skydio’s Inspection and Mapping and Cloud product teams.
- Build scalable technical assets such as reference architectures, demo scripts, workflow documentation, and playbooks.
- Represent Skydio at utility industry events, customer summits, and executive briefings.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, or equivalent technical pre-sales professional serving electric or water utilities.
- Direct utility industry experience, including utility UAS programs, line work, distribution operations, or asset management, is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of thermography, LiDAR acquisition and processing, photogrammetry, and survey-grade accuracy requirements.
- Familiarity with GIS and enterprise integrations including ESRI, DroneDeploy, REST-based APIs, and customer data lake patterns.
- Understanding of regulated utility procurement and regulatory processes, including PUC approval cycles, capital planning, and BVLOS waiver pathways.
- Demonstrated people leadership involving hiring, coaching, performance management, and building team processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication across technical, field, operational, and executive audiences.
- FAA Part 107 Certificate or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
- Ability to travel up to 50% and lift up to 60 lbs unaided.
- Preferred qualifications include utility UAS program ownership, condition-based maintenance and asset health analytics experience, scaled dock-based/remote/BVLOS operations, familiarity with NERC, FERC, or state PUC reporting, and experience with Salesforce, Jira, or Databricks.
