Responsibilities
- Architect and design complex, large-scale, distributed backend systems and own critical architecture decisions.
- Define technical strategy for major components and product features in collaboration with engineering leadership and product managers.
- Lead hands-on implementation from design and prototyping through testing and deployment.
- Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, design reviews, clean code, scalable design, and DevOps maturity.
- Mentor and advise engineers across seniority levels and provide technical leadership across functional groups.
- Define component testing, drive API test automation, enforce security practices, and improve code coverage.
- Lead initiatives to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Evaluate emerging tools, technologies, and frameworks for the backend platform.
Requirements
- 16+ years of progressive software engineering experience focused on backend development and distributed-systems architecture.
- Proven technical leadership, including ownership of major feature designs, engineering mentorship, people management, and engineering-wide initiatives.
- Extensive experience with microservices, REST and gRPC API design, Swagger/OpenAPI documentation, scalable SQL and NoSQL data stores, caching systems, and message queues.
- Deep proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Go, or Python.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; Docker; Kubernetes; and CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- Knowledge of automated testing frameworks such as JUnit or TestNG and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, or OpenTelemetry.
- Telecommunications experience and understanding of 3GPP specifications related to EPC and 5G Core are highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication, cross-functional collaboration, and technical influence skills.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability and willingness to use AI tools daily and incorporate new tools into the development workflow.
