Responsibilities

  • Own technical direction and architectural decisions for the team’s embedded software and hardware-software integration work.
  • Define principles, interface contracts, firmware standards, and ASIC validation methodologies and ensure consistent application.
  • Lead BSP and firmware architecture, BMC platform design, ASIC validation, or interconnect fabric integration within the relevant domain.
  • Drive the full technical lifecycle from emulation and pre-silicon bring-up through post-silicon validation, production reliability, and field issue resolution.
  • Translate complex priorities into execution plans in partnership with the Engineering Manager.
  • Build alignment across engineering and hardware teams through clear technical decisions, design documents, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Raise the technical level of the team through code reviews, design feedback, and sharing technical judgment.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in firmware and hardware-software co-development, including one or more of ASIC bring-up and validation, BMC/OpenBMC platform firmware, or high-speed SerDes and interconnect bring-up.
  • Deep expertise with embedded Linux BSP development, including Yocto/OpenEmbedded, U-Boot or UEFI, device drivers, and device trees for custom silicon platforms.
  • Deep expertise with IPMI/IPMB, Redfish, MCTP, PLDM, and low-speed peripheral integration using I2C, SPI, UART, and CPLD in rack-scale hardware systems.
  • Experience delivering complex hardware-software integration architectures that shipped across multiple generations in large, fast-moving organizations.
  • Experience driving technical outcomes in high-reliability organizations, including observability, incident management, and collaboration with hardware and silicon teams on field issues.
  • Strong technical communication skills, including explaining architectural decisions to engineers, managers, and senior leadership and writing authoritative design documents.
  • Experience with cycle-deterministic or precision timing systems such as IEEE 1588/PTP, SyncE, or White Rabbit Protocol is a significant advantage.
