Responsibilities
- Design software components, services, platforms, and systems architecture.
- Lead project delivery to production, including coding, testing, deployment pipelines, monitoring, logging, and operations.
- Integrate software with distributed systems and shared APIs across bp.
- Build and scale infrastructure services using Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.
- Troubleshoot large-scale distributed production systems and participate in on-call rotations.
- Design data models and databases and develop SQL solutions.
- Mentor, coach, hire, and develop software engineers and peers.
- Set project and squad goals, prioritize initiatives, and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Participate in code reviews and establish software engineering best practices.
- Support security, software licensing, and regulatory audits and implement controls to address compliance gaps and risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
- Mastery of at least one of C#, Python, or TypeScript for cross-platform software development.
- Demonstrable software development experience focused on platform or service engineering.
- Expertise in systems design and building complex software systems end to end for production.
- Knowledge of secure, stable, testable, maintainable code and full software development lifecycle practices.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure and core cloud application infrastructure services.
- Experience troubleshooting and operating large-scale distributed production systems, including on-call support.
- Knowledge of relational, graph, document, and key-value databases, data modeling, database design, and SQL.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, collaboration, mentoring, coaching, and stakeholder-influence skills.
- Ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, identify risks, and adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Product-centric mindset with empathy and curiosity for user and customer experiences.
