Responsibilities
- Analyze incidents and post-incident reviews to identify recurring technical root causes and prioritize reliability improvements.
- Drive engineering interventions such as safe deployment defaults, secret rotation, resilience patterns, observability standards, contract testing, and infrastructure pre-flight validation.
- Provide hands-on technical support through merge requests, pairing, code review, and code-level assistance.
- Lead technical discussions in post-incident reviews and operational forums, identifying monitoring, failure-mode, rollback, and dependency gaps.
- Spread reliability practices through documentation, internal learning sessions, mentoring, and cross-team influence.
- Partner with Platform Engineering, Deployment Platform, Developer Productivity, and senior engineers, and participate in the on-call rotation and incident leadership.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on Site Reliability, Platform, or Infrastructure Engineering experience in a large-scale distributed production environment.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Go, TypeScript, or Java, with a track record of shipping production code.
- Experience driving adoption of reliability or platform patterns across teams without direct reporting authority and with measurable outcomes.
- Strong systems thinking and ability to identify simple interventions for problems such as retries, cascading failures, queueing behavior, partial failures, and head-of-line blocking.
- Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform, observability platform, Service Level Objectives, continuous integration and deployment pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Hands-on exposure to Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Model tooling in an engineering context.
- Preferred qualifications include mentoring engineers, running learning programs, chaos engineering or failure-injection experience, globally distributed operations, incident-management or service-catalogue integrations, and internal developer-platform experience.
