Responsibilities
- Gather automation requirements from artist supervisors and Production Technology teams and translate them into architectural and feature specifications.
- Collaborate with the software architect on the design and specification of the Automation framework.
- Lead implementation of the event-based automation framework and allocate tasks to more junior developers.
- Provide sprint-based progress updates and coordinate with remote teams across time zones.
- Resolve bug reports and escalated support requests efficiently.
- Write software documentation and create or update troubleshooting playbooks.
- Communicate development plans and complex technical information to developers, artists, and the wider business.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-intern professional software development experience.
- Programming experience in Python and knowledge of the Qt framework.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, data modelling, and schema design.
- Knowledge of coding standards, version control, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
- Ability to design and develop sophisticated application interfaces with a strong user experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent subject, or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred experience with Tractor or OpenCue, event-driven frameworks, RabbitMQ, C++ or Go, Linux, and VFX, feature animation, or games environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
