Base Salary
$131k - $192k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build robust, scalable, maintainable Unified Gateway systems.
- Improve gateway performance, reliability, scalability, security, and request-processing capabilities.
- Develop best practices for API management, service discovery, load balancing, and fault tolerance.
- Champion adoption of the Unified Gateway platform across product teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in a high-throughput production environment.
- Evaluate and integrate technologies that enhance the platform.
- Use AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
- Experience with gRPC, REST APIs, Protocol Buffers, and service-to-service communication patterns.
- Deep knowledge of Kotlin or another JVM language for high-scale, resilient systems.
- Experience working on high-throughput, mission-critical production systems.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, consistency, fault tolerance, load balancing, and resilience patterns.
- Familiarity with API gateway and proxy concerns, including authentication, authorization, request routing, and schema or contract management such as OpenAPI.
- Ability to build platform-level abstractions that support hundreds of engineers.
- Proficiency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor for designing, generating, testing, monitoring, and releasing software.
- Familiarity with asynchronous or reactive frameworks such as Vert.x is a plus.
