Responsibilities
- Own the platform architecture for data ingestion pipelines, dependency graph modeling, developer-facing APIs, and firm-wide integrations.
- Act as the technical authority for design decisions, performance issues, build-versus-buy evaluations, and complex technology problems.
- Partner with the Engineering Executive Director on technical strategy and roadmap sequencing.
- Lead delivery of the core software dependency risk platform from design through production stability and iterative improvement.
- Mentor senior engineers, raise technical standards, and provide senior engineering leadership across teams and functions.
- Define strategy and operating standards for agentic AI-enabled engineering, including automation, release readiness, incident triage, refactoring, and test modernization.
- Establish guardrails for human validation, security, resiliency, traceability, auditability, sensitive-data handling, and responsible AI adoption.
- Embed AI tools including Claude into team design, coding, review, and delivery practices.
- Represent engineering in discussions with security, risk, compliance, platform partners, and senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 10 years of applied experience.
- Expertise in one or more programming languages, specifically Java and Python.
- Experience designing and scaling data-intensive platforms involving data structures, large-scale ingestion, data pipelines, graphs, or dependency modeling.
- Hands-on experience across architecture, application development, testing, first release, operational stability, and iterative improvement.
- Experience with AI-first development practices using LLMs and agentic tools to accelerate software delivery.
- Experience designing and scaling agentic AI-enabled development patterns with governance for human-in-the-loop validation, traceability, auditability, and secure input/output handling.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI, security, resiliency, data sensitivity, risk-based governance, and advising senior leaders on safe adoption and measurable outcomes.
- Extensive practical cloud-native experience with AWS.
- Preferred experience with greenfield architecture.
- Preferred experience delivering AI/ML solutions in financial services, capital markets, or operations-focused environments.
- Preferred experience working in highly regulated environments with model risk, governance, or control expectations.
- Preferred experience designing scalable architectures for AI products and platforms across multiple stakeholder groups.
