Responsibilities
- Build a fraud engine and backend services supporting Wise’s acquiring products.
- Design and deliver scalable, reliable, high-performance, low-latency distributed systems.
- Own features end to end and collaborate with Product, Data Science, Fraud Prevention Analysts, and Fraud agents.
- Help prevent fraud and financial crime while maintaining seamless experiences for legitimate customers.
- Mentor team members and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and backend services supporting large-scale traffic.
- Proven ability to build high-performance, low-latency systems focused on speed, scalability, and reliability.
- Strong product-oriented mindset with end-to-end ownership of features.
- Proficiency in Java or solid experience with similar backend programming languages.
- Familiarity with Kafka or RabbitMQ and strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and growth mindset focused on user and business value.
- Understanding of basic machine learning concepts and experience building data pipelines are nice to have.
- Mentorship experience is nice to have.

- Starting salary of £111,000–£145,000 plus RSUs.
