Base Salary

$188k - $281k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Use multi-objective optimization for distributed decision-making, task allocation, and resource scheduling in coordinated satellite missions.
  • Develop weapons target assignment, motion planning, tactical behavior, and information-aware planning capabilities for space vehicles and interceptors.
  • Build high-performance, well-tested software modules with clear interfaces for mid-to-high Technology Readiness Level insertions.
  • Collaborate with perception, planning, simulation, hardware, and flight-test teams to integrate autonomy solutions onto real-world platforms.
  • Deploy capabilities to space vehicles and analyze mission logs to verify software performance and operational effects.
  • Research and prototype algorithms, identify tactical capability gaps, and contribute to autonomy roadmaps.
  • Lead technical delivery, help customers define requirements and technical approaches, and drive execution for complex autonomy capabilities.
  • Travel approximately 10–15% of the year to offices, customer sites, and flight integration events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 7 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 6 years with a master's degree, or 4 years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python and familiarity with real-time operating systems.
  • Significant experience in robotic technology areas such as control systems, motion planning, optimization, tactical behaviors, or distributed decision-making.
  • Significant experience with unmanned systems and related algorithms, ideally in the space domain.
  • Experience with simulation tools and environments such as AFSIM or NGTS for testing and validation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize system performance in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance or higher.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience across multiple aerospace domains, classical control through optimization and applied ML/RL, collaborative behaviors and swarm robotics, DoD or government programs, and integration events or live exercises.
