Base Salary
$142k - $199k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own complex technical initiatives end-to-end, from technical design through production deployment and operational excellence.
- Design and develop infrastructure for machine learning data pipelines, workflow orchestration, data discovery and quality tools, feature libraries, training, inference, and monitoring.
- Develop data- and ML-driven solutions including recommendation systems, object detection, autogenerated tagging, and RAGs.
- Partner with product, editorial, data, and engineering stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Prioritize technical initiatives, identify and mitigate risks, and deliver high-impact outcomes.
- Champion code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and incident response practices.
- Mentor and coach engineers and promote technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, math, or a comparable field, and/or equivalent work experience.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and deploying machine learning systems in production.
- Expertise in data science, deep learning algorithms, or statistical methods applied to real-world engineering problems.
- Experience across data collection, data analysis, feature engineering, batch training, and low-latency online serving.
- Experience designing backend microservices for large-scale distributed systems using REST.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS and its Step Functions, Lambda, Glue, SQS, SNS, and Personalize services.
- Familiarity with developing and deploying Spark and ML pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, Kinesis, and Kafka.
- Proven leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments and strong communication and collaboration skills.
