Base Salary
$108k - $205k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain enterprise ontologies and knowledge graphs using OWL, RDF, and SPARQL.
- Collaborate with domain experts, data engineers, AI/ML engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to formalize concepts, relationships, and rules.
- Develop taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and semantic metadata schemas across operational and business domains.
- Integrate ontology structures with enterprise data platforms, AI/ML pipelines, analytics environments, data products, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Define and enforce standards for entity definitions, data lineage, metadata management, data governance, and master data management.
- Monitor ontology performance and usage, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement.
- Evaluate ontology management tools and platforms for scalability and interoperability.
- Document complex technical concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- A STEM degree and 8 years of relevant experience are typically required.
- Experience using OWL, RDF, RDFS, SPARQL, and related W3C semantic web standards is required.
- Experience with ontology development tools such as Protégé or TopBraid Composer is required.
- Experience developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models and canonical data designs is required.
- Experience with graph databases and graph query languages is required.
- Experience collaborating in cross-functional Agile or DevOps environments is required.
- An active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before starting.
- U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with Azure, AWS, data fabric, data mesh, lakehouse architectures, digital thread, digital twin, AI/ML programs, linked datasets, semantic enrichment, LLM-grounded knowledge graphs, and RAG pipelines.
- Preferred qualifications include strong SQL, SPARQL, and Cypher skills; relational and NoSQL database experience; data governance, metadata management, and MDM knowledge; and experience mentoring or leading data modeling teams.
