Base Salary
$144k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance, secure, and well-documented UIs and APIs for AI-driven applications.
- Develop database schemas and manage SQL, NoSQL, vector, and other data systems for performance and scalability.
- Implement front-end and backend services with a focus on performance, maintainability, and reliability.
- Diagnose bottlenecks and optimize systems for high availability and low-latency performance at scale.
- Use AWS, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices to build and deploy production-grade systems.
- Integrate data pipelines, APIs, and cloud infrastructure into scientific workflows.
- Collaborate with software engineers, lab scientists, machine learning engineers, data engineers, and product teams.
- Support orchestration of laboratory workflows and integration with scientific instruments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-8+ years of engineering experience building and deploying large-scale production systems.
- Strong backend engineering experience and full-stack web application development experience.
- Experience with React, TypeScript, Tailwind, FastAPI, SQL/NoSQL systems, Python, and Pydantic.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants is required.
- Proven cross-functional collaboration skills with scientists, data engineers, and product teams.
- Ability to own complex backend challenges and balance scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Exposure to laboratory software for life sciences, materials sciences, or related fields is preferred.
- Experience with laboratory devices, robotics, or hardware drivers is preferred.
- Experience with Airflow, Prefect, Temporal, or Dagster is preferred.
- Hands-on AWS experience, Kubernetes and containerization knowledge, infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation, and CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions are preferred.
