Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of APIs, data access layers, integrations, backend services, and digital platform components.
- Mentor junior engineers, guide design reviews, influence architecture decisions, and lead distributed teams.
- Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Frontend, and Data teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Drive coding standards, secure coding practices, observability, automated testing, CI/CD, and code reviews.
- Ensure service quality and reliability, support security audits, reduce operational toil, and improve developer experience.
- Drive continuous improvement and technical excellence across the backend engineering team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 9+ years of professional backend development experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or mentoring capacity.
- Expertise building backend services and APIs with .NET/C# or Python.
- Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code reviews.
- Working knowledge of Azure Cloud, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with messaging and event streaming technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Azure Service Bus.
- Understanding of security fundamentals and observability practices.
- Preferred experience with microservices, DDD, CQRS, event-driven architectures, GraphQL, gRPC, API gateways, Redis, Terraform, or Bicep.
- Background in regulated environments or financial services and experience leading distributed teams are preferred.
