Base Salary
$269k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain custom modifications to the Android Framework and Hardware Abstraction Layers in AOSP.
- Partner with smartphone manufacturers and chipset vendors to integrate proprietary technology into factory firmware.
- Collaborate daily with the China-based engineering team on technical specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Implement system-level locking features involving Telephony, Power Management, and Device Policy Manager services.
- Troubleshoot integration issues across different silicon providers, including Qualcomm and MediaTek.
- Contribute to OTA updates, global device testing, firmware build-pipeline automation, and signing processes.
Requirements
- Extensive hands-on AOSP development experience, including modifying system services and using the Android build system with Soong and Make.
- Expert-level proficiency in Java and C/C++ with JNI, plus the ability to read and write Kotlin.
- Proven OEM or chipset-vendor experience in firmware customization, device bring-up, or security hardening.
- Strong knowledge of AOSP, TEE, and ARM TrustZone.
- Experience with secure boot, verified boot/AVB, and common Android exploit vectors is desirable.
- Experience automating firmware build pipelines and signing processes with Python or Bash is desirable.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with international teams across time zones is desirable.
