Base Salary
$148k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build agentic AI systems for sequential decision-making and multi-step reasoning in scientific domains.
- Develop systems that translate natural-language intent into typed, executable steps for laboratory instruments.
- Create benchmarks, test suites, and telemetry to measure AI capability and reliability against scientific goals.
- Interface AI systems with simulations and real laboratory systems.
- Develop scalable machine-learning solutions for complex scientific tasks.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- Strong background in machine learning and at least one scientific domain such as biology or materials science.
- Strong understanding of LLMs and agent architectures, including planning, tool use, structured function calling, and code generation.
- Proficiency with modern machine-learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Experience implementing scalable solutions for complex tasks.
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and interface with simulations and real laboratory systems.
- Experience building long-horizon agents or reinforcement-learning systems for control or decision-making is preferred.
- Experience with model-based or offline reinforcement learning is preferred.
- Experience designing domain-specific benchmarks and evaluation harnesses is preferred.
- Experience with digital-twin development, calibration, and sim-to-real transfer is preferred.
- Publications or open-source contributions in AI for science, especially at NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, or ICLR, are preferred.
