
Software Engineer III - Python, Java, Observability, OTel, Dynatrace
JPMorgan ChaseResponsibilities
- Design, develop, execute, and troubleshoot secure, scalable software solutions across multiple technical areas.
- Create and maintain high-quality production code and algorithms while ensuring application design constraints are met.
- Use authorized AI-assisted development and automation tools for coding, refactoring, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation, with peer review and validation of outputs.
- Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications.
- Analyze and visualize large, diverse datasets to identify patterns and drive improvements to applications, coding practices, and system architecture.
- Use observability and monitoring technologies to support instrumentation, troubleshooting, dashboards, logging, alerting, and metrics.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming and database-querying languages.
- Hands-on experience with authorized AI-assisted software development tools and the ability to evaluate and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Knowledge of the software development life cycle and agile engineering practices.
- Experience with OpenTelemetry agent setup and instrumentation patterns; Python and Java instrumentation and troubleshooting; Dynatrace dashboards and DQL; Splunk log analytics and search; Grafana dashboarding; Geneos alerting; and Prometheus time-series metrics.
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies is preferred.
- Exposure to cloud technologies is preferred.
