Base Salary

$100k - $129k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Build and launch customer-facing backend and frontend software features for Rover’s Recommendations team.
  • Maintain and improve the Elasticsearch-powered search platform.
  • Develop personalization and information-collection features that improve matching and pet parent confidence.
  • Provide engineering support to data science teams working on search algorithms and machine learning models.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, analysts, designers, and data scientists to break down requirements and deliver marketplace features.
  • Apply automated testing, code-quality practices, monitoring, anomaly detection, and production engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • 1–4 years of professional software development experience.
  • Graduation from a formal computer science or engineering program.
  • Experience using AI tools in technical and non-technical workflows.
  • A solid foundation in professional software development practices and system design.
  • Strong communication skills, including building consensus and addressing ambiguity with stakeholders.
  • Commitment to code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
  • Preferred experience with Python/Django, Elasticsearch, React, or React Native.
  • Preferred experience with search or two-sided marketplaces.
