Base Salary
$100k - $129k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and launch customer-facing backend and frontend software features for Rover’s Recommendations team.
- Maintain and improve the Elasticsearch-powered search platform.
- Develop personalization and information-collection features that improve matching and pet parent confidence.
- Provide engineering support to data science teams working on search algorithms and machine learning models.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, analysts, designers, and data scientists to break down requirements and deliver marketplace features.
- Apply automated testing, code-quality practices, monitoring, anomaly detection, and production engineering best practices.
Requirements
- 1–4 years of professional software development experience.
- Graduation from a formal computer science or engineering program.
- Experience using AI tools in technical and non-technical workflows.
- A solid foundation in professional software development practices and system design.
- Strong communication skills, including building consensus and addressing ambiguity with stakeholders.
- Commitment to code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
- Preferred experience with Python/Django, Elasticsearch, React, or React Native.
- Preferred experience with search or two-sided marketplaces.
