Responsibilities
- Build and evolve distributed streaming and data-processing systems for Apple’s consumer services.
- Design, implement, and operate cross-datacenter replication and multi-region data infrastructure.
- Develop server-side Java services with attention to concurrency, memory management, and performance.
- Automate existing systems and integrate them into a centralized cloud platform.
- Build operational tooling, observability, and deployment capabilities for platforms running at scale.
- Work on Apache Kafka infrastructure, including broker internals, producers, consumers, and ecosystem tooling.
Requirements
- 1–5 years of professional experience in server-side Java development.
- Strong understanding of concurrency, memory management, performance, data structures, algorithms, and fault tolerance.
- Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience with RESTful API design and service-oriented architectures.
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with distributed data systems such as Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Experience with Apache Kafka, Schema Registry, object stores, multi-datacenter deployments, replication strategies, and consistency models is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and container orchestration such as Kubernetes, AWS, or GCP is preferred.
- Exposure to monitoring, alerting, performance benchmarking, fault injection, chaos engineering, property-based testing, and open-source contributions is preferred.
