Responsibilities

  • Build, test, ship, maintain, and extend production automation for validated remediation, including rollback, exception handling, and staged or canary rollout.
  • Translate SRE-authored remediation procedures into executable, documented runbooks and keep them synchronized as procedures evolve.
  • Instrument automations with metrics, structured logs, distributed traces, events, SLIs, SLOs, dashboards, and actionable alerts.
  • Design signal correlation, alert tuning, noise reduction, confidence thresholds, and feedback loops for automation outcomes.
  • Apply SRE practices such as error budgets, blameless-postmortem-driven fixes, graduation criteria, and staged autonomy.
  • Partner with SRE, Operations, Reliability, platform, alerting, and application teams to validate automation safety and operational outcomes.
  • Support ticket volume and flexible shift coverage as required by continuous operations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on automation engineering experience building and maintaining production automation or scripted remediation in enterprise IT operations.
  • Hands-on observability experience with SLIs, SLOs, metrics, structured logs, distributed traces, dashboards, and alerts, using a major observability stack or equivalent.
  • Experience turning documented fixes or remediation procedures into reliable, repeatable automation rather than one-off scripts.
  • Practical scripting or programming ability with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of SRE concepts, including SLOs, error budgets, blameless postmortems, and graduation or autonomy criteria.
  • Experience with rollback logic, exception handling, safe-execution guardrails, and staged or canary rollout.
  • Familiarity with ITSM processes including incident, change, problem, and CAPA.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to validate and promote safe automation in regulated, audit-ready environments.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Preferred experience includes agentic or AI-assisted remediation, ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms, Automation Anywhere, IBM BAW, CMDB and service mapping, analytics-driven incident identification, shared runbook libraries, shift-based production support, CI/CD, regulated industries, mentoring, React, and TypeScript.
