Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-performance production Python services and applications using modern engineering practices.
- Architect scalable microservices and RESTful or GraphQL APIs with FastAPI and Flask.
- Lead distributed, event-driven, asynchronous, and high-throughput system design.
- Define testing strategies covering unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing using pytest and related tooling.
- Create reusable Python libraries, SDKs, templates, and self-service platform capabilities.
- Design cloud-native architectures on Google Cloud Platform using containerization, orchestration, autoscaling, and resilient infrastructure.
- Architect real-time and batch data pipelines using BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, and Cloud Composer.
- Establish Terraform infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD automation for build, testing, deployment, and rollback workflows.
- Implement observability, SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and incident response practices for production services.
- Define cloud security, IAM, VPC, secrets management, workload identity, and cloud cost-optimization practices.
- Build production LLM and Generative AI applications, including prompt engineering, context management, structured outputs, and token optimization.
- Design RAG, GraphRAG, vector database, semantic retrieval, hybrid retrieval, reranking, and knowledge-store architectures.
- Establish evaluation frameworks for LLM applications and agents, including golden datasets, regression testing, groundedness, task success, and structured-output validation.
- Design model serving and inference architectures on Vertex AI, including model routing, fallback, versioning, latency, and cost management.
- Define production agentic AI patterns for tool calling, workflow orchestration, state, memory, planning, recovery, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Lead architecture and design reviews, resolve complex technical problems, mentor engineers, and influence engineering standards across teams.
- Collaborate with data science, platform, security, architecture, product, and business stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 7+ years of software, platform, cloud, data, or AI engineering experience with significant ownership of production systems and technical architecture.
- Demonstrated experience building production cloud-native applications on GCP and working with Generative AI or ML systems.
- Expert-level Python proficiency with experience in FastAPI, Flask, asyncio, pytest, and modern Python tooling.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, API design, distributed systems, concurrency, asynchronous programming, software architecture, testing, debugging, and Git.
- Deep hands-on experience with GCP services including GKE, Cloud Run, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Vertex AI, Cloud Build, IAM, and Cloud Monitoring.
- Experience with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of containerization, serverless, event-driven design, service mesh, autoscaling, infrastructure as code, high availability, disaster recovery, and cost efficiency.
- Working knowledge of deep learning and Transformer architectures, including tokenization, embeddings, attention, inference, and foundation-model architectures.
- Experience with PyTorch, Hugging Face, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or comparable ML/AI frameworks.
- Deep hands-on experience building production LLM, Generative AI, RAG, vector database, and agentic AI solutions.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Cloud Monitoring, and Cloud Logging.
- Familiarity with Java, Go, TypeScript, or another production language is advantageous.
