Base Salary

$135k - $160k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain primarily Java applications and Spring Boot backend services for web-based and distributed systems.
  • Oversee development and implementation of astrodynamics algorithm solutions, propagation methods, frame transformations, measurement models, time scales, and numerical optimization methods.
  • Modernize and support legacy systems containing C++, Python, and Fortran components.
  • Design and implement secure end-to-end cluster and application lifecycles using Kubernetes or Docker and AWS cloud technologies.
  • Build and maintain GitLab-based CI/CD pipelines and apply DevSecOps practices for automated, secure software delivery.
  • Use Ansible, Maven, and Gradle to automate development, build, and deployment processes.
  • Manage logs and use analytics tools to monitor and optimize systems.
  • Work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle, MySQL, and other database technologies.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify residuals, anomalies, and outliers.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary engineering, product, training, and defense teams.

Requirements

  • Secret clearance or above is required.
  • Three to five years of experience developing web-based applications is required.
  • Three to five years of experience with Kubernetes or Docker is required.
  • Experience developing backend services with Java and Spring Boot, including REST APIs, microservices, or distributed systems, is required.
  • Experience with astrodynamics propagation methods, celestial and terrestrial frame transformations, measurement models, time scales, Earth orientation, root-finding algorithms, and interpolation is required.
  • Experience with AWS, cloud technologies, CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, Ansible, Maven, and Gradle is required or preferred as specified in the posting.
  • Experience with Agile, Agile XP, DevOps, and DevSecOps methodologies is required or preferred as specified in the posting.
  • Experience with test-driven development, unit testing, and integration testing is required or preferred as specified in the posting.
  • Experience with statistical analysis of large datasets and scripting languages including MATLAB, Python, and Bash is required or preferred as specified in the posting.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with Orekit, Astropy, STK, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Apache Kafka, Kubernetes-native deployment patterns, Kustomize, operator-based workflows, log management, service mesh technologies, and Istio.
  • Experience optimizing numerical, scientific, or backend algorithms for performance, accuracy, scalability, or computational efficiency is preferred.
