Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable full-stack software for backend services and customer-facing interfaces.
- Develop APIs and integrations across the platform and build features using ROLLER’s design system and component library.
- Own features from discovery and technical design through implementation, release, production operation, and iteration.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve reliability, performance, observability, and maintainability.
- Contribute to design discussions and code reviews, support teammate development, and connect technical decisions to customer and business outcomes.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Full-stack experience across backend services and frontend interfaces.
- Experience building and operating APIs, services, or transactional product systems in a product, SaaS, or similarly fast-moving environment.
- Sound fundamentals in data modelling, testing, security, performance, cloud patterns, and maintainability.
- Ability to take ambiguous problems through to practical outcomes and learn from production incidents or customer feedback.
- Clear communication, curiosity, and comfort giving and receiving honest feedback.
- Willingness to work from the South Melbourne office three days per week.
- Experience with C#, modern .NET, and SQL Server is highly regarded; experience with Java, Go, Kotlin, or Python is also considered.
- Experience with payments, transactional systems, public or partner-facing APIs, integrations, AWS or another major cloud platform, high-availability services, CI/CD, or startup and scale-up product teams is useful but not essential.
